#93 How Did This Happen?!

How did I go a whole month without posting anything?!?!  It's bad.  Too many things going on and too much broken computers at work and not enough coffee.  I vow to make up for my lack of posting and make it to #100 by the new year.  I also vow not to give up on color like I did this week when I wore plain black shirts two days in a row. My last vow (but certainly not the least!) is to not stress out about the holidays and just enjoy each moment as it comes-- especially skipping lunch to stand in DVF sample sales lines in 20 degree weather where it's all you can buy for $40 because your co-worker has an in.  Party on!

#92 Fall is Back... For Real This Time

Fall is not playing these cutesy games anymore where it pretends like it's kiiiinda summery.  Nope.  It's cold.  It sleets. Coats are required-- furry, puffy, or otherwise.  My main goal in life right now is to stay warm and cozy while imprinting the colors of falling leaves onto my retinas.

this is where I get off...

#91 Cozy Stripes

It's starting to feel a little nippy outside.  It mostly makes me just want to stay in bed all day and hope that fleece pants with hot pink polar bears on them will be the fashion trend of the season.  Probably not going to happen though.  I'm just now starting to remember how to layer and dress properly for leaving the house in fall weather.  Cozy oversized sweaters, drapey cardigans, leather jackets, cute hats and stripes, apparently, are the new staple of the season.

I've shown this one before here for the leggings and now for the sweater.  It really is the perfect outfit.

Since college I've been on the lookout for an orange and blue version like the Auburn cheerleaders wear, but they are harder to find than you'd think!

#90 Ahoy Monday!

It's very convenient that Halloween is approaching because I kind of wish this look was acceptable for everyday, but I'm pretty sure it would solicit more 'Aaarrrrrgh!!'s than I'm ready for.  The cool pirate's booty-ish necklace, however, could turn into my favorite necklace faster than you can say 'shiver me timbers!'

#89 Tips for the Weekend...or How To Walk on Walls

Welcome Weekend!!  How I've missed you.  During the week, responsibilities and worries can get you down.  But if I've learned anything in the past year, it's that you make your own reality.  Mine is Friday.  Friday is most certainly the best day of the weekend, as all the fun still lies ahead.  That feeling of anticipation, and possibility of amazing things happening is like electricity running through your veins.

Sometimes we all need a reminder that life is a magical thing.

#88 Stomping Around

O Fall, summer's gone
leaves falling in the wind's breath
cold toes, dreaded socks

That's right, I wrote a haiku to help me come to terms with Fall.  I'm realizing more and more my dislike for cool weather directly relates to wearing socks.  But anyways, on to more important things that I do like--shoes!!  Fall shoes can't always be as silly and fun (and sockless) as summer shoes, but they can still be very cute!

It's my favorite color combination.  Sooooo girly, I know.  I can't help it, though-- I am a girl.  Just embrace the girliness & have a happy Friday!

#86 Wax On, Wax Off

It started like this:

Then I measured, I cut (well, I got my friend to do most of the cutting because I was scared of cutting my finger off), I sanded, I clamped, I drilled, I screwed, I unscrewed(oops!), I screwed again, I sanded some more, I waxed, I buffed, & I waxed and buffed again, and this is what I got in the end:

A table and matching bench that didn't break the bank... but almost broke my back.

#82 Fashion Week In Review: Part 1

This is going to be all photos no chatting.  Mostly because all I would say  is, "Oooooo, Awwwww!" over and over again.  Enjoy & let me know if I'm missing something out-of-this-world beautiful.

#81 The Fallbacks

It's definitely starting to feel like fall in the city.  It's time to break out the tweed and tights and start getting my morning coffee hot rather than iced... I'm still kind of pulling for an Indian Summer though.

#80 Places Set

One long table coming up!  This weekend I'm planning on building a dining table.  I found a sweet website, where the writer, Ana White, builds furniture and shares plans that you can build yourself, from the easiest to more advanced.  It gave me the courage to make something useful and not have to spend a million dollars on it.  With a few table building helpers and a tool donor, hopefully it will be a success! Then, whenever you come to visit me, I will have a cute little table set up like so to welcome you...

#79 The Avoi-Dance

Sometimes I do this dance I like to call the "avoi-dance."  Yep, I tend to do it a lot at the change of seasons.  Like right now where I'm trying to avoid the truth that it's really the end of summer... and that new york winters last into April.

Ready or not, here comes fall...

I'm going to need lots of encouragement once December hits and there are no more crunchy leaves to dance in...

#78 Daydreams & Pickup Trucks

Looking back, I'd say I spent a large portion of my free time this summer daydreaming about apartments and being way to hot.  Now that I've had a taste of fall with temps in the 60s and cool breezes making jackets a necessity, I'm worried I didn't spend enough time outside... but then I went to Alabama for my birthday weekend & remembered what happens when I leave the air-conditioned heaven that is my bedroom when it's a million degrees outside: sweating...and bugs...yucky.

The other thing I was reminded of when going home was trucks.  I think I saw more trucks than cars.  My family has two trucks & two SUVs... oh yeah, and one car... but it's more for decoration (it doesn't run).  I kinda miss trucks and rolling the windows down and driving over curbs because- "It's ok, I'm in a truck!"  No need to lock the doors because there's nothing to steal.  Reminds me of high school and everybody's crappy--I mean super sweet cars

Missing Alabama already, and I just got back to New York.

#77 Summer Sunsets

I'm currently obsessed with sunsets.  Their magic is hard to fully describe with a photograph because the feeling you get of being a minuscule part of the universe when you look into the sky doesn't really come across.  I'm obsessed to a point where I want to try and paint an entire room the colors of the sky at dusk (or maybe start out with one wall).  Sunsets make me happy.

Happy, happy, happy...

#75 Summer Celebrations...or How To Prepare for Another Year of Being Alive

Nothing beats August birthday parties, BBQs and Southern adventures They are always rejuvenating and a last hurrah before the cool weather sneaks its way in, taking over the summer and turning to fall...

Except in Alabama where summer lasts into November... & sometimes January.

Happy Birthday to all my fellow Leos!
